QUIZ – On tobacco products and their ill effects

As a part of primary prevention of tobacco related cancers, Kalp Cancer foundation has initiated awareness activities in schools and colleges. The main aim of these programs is to make children aware of the health hazards of tobacco use. Kalp also conducted quiz competitions to make the program more interactive and interesting. The first activity was conducted on 19th February 2013 in Ujwal Vidyalaya Whitefield, Bangalore. The students of 8th, 9th and 10th class participated in the quiz and they were put into three teams. Initial two rounds were based on information on tobacco products and their ill effects.
The various forms of tobacco, especially smokeless tobacco, addiction of nicotine, health hazards of tobacco use were covered in this first session. The remaining rounds were based on general topics such as sports, music etc. Team A and C scored the same marks while Team C emerged as the winner in this quiz program. The event was coordinated by Dr. Geeta, Dr. Bhaskar and Dr. Arpita of Kalp Cancer Foundation. All the participants and winners were awarded gift vouchers. The school authorities provided full support to the program and helped in conveying NO TO TOBACCO message to the students.
