Health Check Up and Cancer Screening Camp Organized by Kalp Cancer Foundation

Kalp Cancer Foundation, Prevention and Early Detection NGO in Bangalore, organized a health check up and cancer screening camp at BIT’S club, Ashatownship, Billesivalle on 20th Jan 2013. The camp was funded by Fiber Link company , Koramangala, Bangalore. A group of oncologists, physicians, gynaecologists, dentists, social workers and volunteers helped in conducting the camp.  A total of 42 people were screened. General health check up including blood pressure and blood sugar measurement, oral and dental examination were carried out for both men and women. In addition, pap smears were done on women.

Kalp camp counseled tobacco users, explained early signs and symptoms of tobacco caused cancer and encouraged them to quit smoking. The camp was successful in creating awareness about common cancers in women. They were taught how to do breast self examination. The camp also highlighted screening guidelines for common cancers found in both men and women.
