Dr. M.S. Ganesh
Dr.M.S.Ganesh5.jpgDr. Ganesh is the Head of Oncology at Vydehi Institute of Oncology, Whitefield, Bengaluru. Dr. Ganesh along with his fellow colleagues and associated members conceived the idea of starting a meaningful outreach program for cancers, in the form of a N.G.O. He did his oncology speciality training from Cancer Institute, Adayar, Chennai. He also worked as Assistant Professor there and later joined prominent ‘Tertiary Care Cancer Centers’ in New Delhi. He moved to Bengaluru with the idea of getting associated with an academic cancer center which would provide remarkably good cancer care to patients belong to lower socio-economic strata. In the last five years, he conducted numerous early cancer detection and screening camps in and around rural Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. He is also associated with the most ambitious health insurance scheme of Government of Karnataka – The Vajpayee Arogyasri scheme for cancer patients. He is also actively associated with a large rural based mission hospital in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh to aid in the early detection and treatment of Gynaecological cancers. Dr. Ganesh along with his fellow colleagues and associated members conceived the idea of starting a meaningful outreach program for cancers, in the form of a N.G.O. He believes that simple, cost effective and practical measures can make a lasting impact in early detection and prevention of common cancers.


Dr. Anju Manchanda, VSM

MajGen_Anju_ManchandaIn her 37 years of career with the Army as a doctor, Dr. Anju has gained rich experience in various medical setups throughout the country. She had the experience of working as the Director of Planning and Training of Medical Officers of Armed Forces under the Ministry of Defense.

She rose to the level of Major General and retired from the defense services as the director of Medical Services of Central Command. Presently, she applies her vast experience in taking care of Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre.


Dr. Aruna Prasad
Dr.Aruna_PrasadDr. Aruna Prasad is an obstetrician and gynaecologist with a rich experience of twenty years. She has worked in the Dept. of Community Oncology for more than ten years at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology. She was actively involved in conducting cancer detection camps and was the officer in Charge of ‘Population Based Cancer Registry’ and ‘Anti-Tobacco Cell’. She was the key person in developing Comprehensive Cancer Program for gynaecological malignancies in RDT (Rural Development Trust) Hospital in Bathalapalli, Ananthpur. She is a recipient of ICRETT Fellowship for cancer registration. She was awarded ‘Overseas Doctors Training Scholarship’ for training in Colposcopy by the British society for Colposcopists and Cytopathologists at Birmingham, UK. She also participated in many projects as a co-investigator. Hence, her rich experience in the field of community oncology will be a guiding force for the N.G.O.


Dr. Geetha
Dr.GeethaDr. Geetha, a radiation oncologist, has been in the field of cancer treatment for the past twelve years. Prior to joining Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Bengaluru, she has worked in some of the finest institutes in India such as Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bengaluru, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. As an oncologist, she goes through emotionally complex and challenging situations while dealing with cancer patients. The most difficult of them is dealing with the anger, disbelief and frustrations of patients with very advanced stage of cancer. Everyday she deals with numerous cancer patients who have no options of cure and with those patients who are the bread earners of their family and can’t afford the treatment. Through this N.G.O., she conducts early detection camps in rural areas and is actively working towards changing the present bleak scenario of detection of cancer and helps to support the patients and their family.


Mrs. Marie Nympha
Marie_NymphaMrs. Marie Nympha, is a professional social worker from Christ University, is specialized in psychiatry and now pursuing Ph.D from Christ University. She has been trained in Spastics Society of Karnataka, St. John’s Medical College, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology and NIMHANS. Her field of interest is working with cancer patients and their family, working with youth and adolescents. Her previous teaching experience had set the grounds for empathizing and dealing with the patients in the right way. Her belief in Humanitarian philosophy, equality in rights and an optimistic dream of a Utopian society which is free from all problems and sorrows of life motivated her to be in this field. Her personal experience as a caregiver and her research with people suffering from cancer has facilitated a deep understanding in her, of their needs and psychosocial problems.


Mrs. Meera K.R.
Meera_K.RAn Electronics Engineer by qualification, Mrs. Meera K.R. has 13 years of professional experience in IT industry. She, as a committed citizen, wishes to reach out to the cancer patients and make a difference in their lives. She is a certified counselor who teams up with the doctors and social workers to encourage people to get them screened for cancer and to spread awareness in schools about the ill-effects of tobacco usage, with an aim to prevent onset of this dangerous disease.


Dr. Sangi Reddy
Dr.Sangi_ReddyDr. Sangi Reddy is a consultant in Surgical Oncology at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences. After working abroad for ten years and having seen the importance to preventive care given by foreign medical centers, he believes that education and awareness programs play a crucial role in preventing cancer. He likes to promote similar educative and preventive programs especially in the rural settings which will make a difference to the society as whole and to the concerned family in particular.


Dr. Sashidhar Karpurmath
Dr.SashidharDr. Sashidhar Karpurmath works as a Medical Oncologist in Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Whitefield, Bengaluru. He, with an experience of 6 years in the field of Oncology, believes that early detection of cancer is the key to cure and spreading awareness among the general population is the only way to cut down the percentage of cancer patients in the country. With changes in lifestyle, risk of cancer is bound to increase and hence he thinks reaching out to people to spread the information has the most important role in preventing it. He believes in interacting with people to convince them of a healthy life style that will prevent them from the dangerous disease, cancer.
